From the Coaches Mouth
As February gets closer it now becomes reality that footy is
not too far away. In fact it is just 7 weeks until our first
trial !!! Pre Christmas saw a committed group undertake a 5
week block of fitness training in preparation for the 2010
season. Training resumed on the 5th January back
at our home ground Limestone Park and the numbers have been
exceptional.
The Ipswich Eagles are a proud club and 2010 is a huge year
for many reasons. We have a new coaching staff consisting of
Kanga, Nobby and Bat Manley. We have lost years of playing
experience with the announcement of several retirements, and
the club turns 10 years old. The challenge is definitely
ahead of us and one that I and many of our playing group are
looking forward too.
The effort on the track over the past 7 weeks has been
tremendous and already I have spotted a few players that
look ready to take the next step in their footy development
and start to dominate games consistently. We have several
under 16 & 18 players that have expressed their commitment
to playing senior footy and couple that with a few new faces
and big bodies the outlook is pretty healthy.
For the past players and any new players that have yet to
show their face yet please don’t leave it too late. As I
mentioned before there are only 13 training sessions left
before it is game on.
